The Fakenham Medical Practice currently has 9 doctors looking after approximately 15,000 patients.
The surgery is open 8am to 6.30pm on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday. On Thursdays the surgery is closed from 1-2pm for staff training. From 15th September 2008, the practice will be extending its opening hours for pre-booked appointments only as follows:
- 7:30 - 8 a.m. Mondays
- 7 - 8 am. Tuesdays and Fridays
- 6:30 - 8:00 p.m. on Mondays.
Morning surgery consists of 10 minute appointments from 8.30-11.30am.
Evening surgery start times vary depending on the GP, but each surgery lasts for 2 hours and consists of 10 minute appointments which can be booked in advance.
We have a duty doctor available from 8am to 6.30pm, Monday to Friday, who deals with emergencies and patients with conditions that cannot wait to the next available appointment.
In addition to this we have appointments available with the practice nurse from 8.30am to 5.00pm Monday to Friday.
We also have a duty nurse each day offering 5 minute appointments from 8.30am to 6.30pm who can deal with many conditions which are urgent for that day. The nurse will be able to arrange a prescription if necessary, and can also arrange a GP appointment if needed. On Thursdays, due to staff training the duty nurse for the afternoon starts at 2.00pm until 6.30pm.
If you need to see a doctor urgently, you will be dealt with the same day. If you need a routine appointment to see a doctor, we aim to offer you an appointment within 48 hours, although this may not be the doctor of your choice. If you need a routine appointment to see a specific doctor, or want to be seen at a specific time, during busy times you may have to wait longer.
